About Us

St. John's Gay Men's Chorus is a non-auditioned community choir for men and allies of the LGBTQ community. Based in the beautiful city of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, the choir aims to create a safe social space, where people of diverse background can sing and make music together.
The chorus started the first season in April 2017. Its very first performance on December 7th 2017 was a joint concert with the Newfoundland-own soprano Noelle Slaney.
In May 2018, the chorus had its first appearance in Unison Festival, the quadrennial Canadian queer choral festival.

Logo & Mission

A logo tells a story. It situates you, it defines your principles, it reflects your aspirations.

Ours situates us in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador where majestic whales enjoy freedom in the waters surrounding our coast. It reminds us of our collective responsibility to ensure a safer space for all. The rainbow heralds pride in our community and appreciation for those who accepted stewardship for the freedom we now enjoy. The mosaic celebrates diversity and the value of individual voice in creating kindness and harmony.

We sing for more than joy.
